By Food and Beverages | Monday, March 23, 2020

Opening up more choices for customers across the California Peninsula Area with respect to restaurant selection.

FREMONT, CA: DoorDash, the nation’s largest on-demand destination for door-to-door delivery according to Edison Trends' recent report, is launching its first shared commissary kitchen, called “DoorDash Kitchens,” in Redwood City, CA, opening with 4 locally-founded and national brick-and-mortar restaurants under one roof.

DoorDash customers across the Peninsula area can now enjoy offerings from Nation’s Giant Hamburgers, Rooster & Rice, Humphry Slocombe, and The Halal Guys for delivery, pickup, and group orders. DoorDash is offering $0 delivery fees.

DoorDash makes on-demand delivery options available to customers across 7 Bay Area markets, including Atherton, Belmont, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Carlos, and Woodside. Additionally, it makes pickup options available to customers in 13 key suburban markets including Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, Foster City, Los Altos, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo, Sunnyvale, and Woodside.

Customers within range of DoorDash Kitchens can install DoorDash app and find these restaurants in their feed, which is an added advantage for customers who would initially travel a long distance to access their favorite food. DoorDash is constantly working on innovations to help merchants find new and meaningful ways to reach customers while running their businesses more efficiently.

At launch, Peninsula customers who order Rooster and Rice were provided with exclusive menu offerings such that they will also be able to add Humphrey Slocombe ice cream pints to their order, which is unique on the menu of DoorDash Kitchens.

DoorDash Kitchens merchants now have access to new customers across 13 Key Suburban markets mentioned above, allowing them to reach these neighboring communities without the traditional overhead costs associated with opening a new restaurant location.

DoorDash Kitchens provides the infrastructure, maintenance, marketing, and last-mile logistics offering an end-to-end solution that enables restaurateurs to focus on creating delicious meals that DoorDash customers can enjoy.

Working in close partnership with each merchant to co-design the DoorDash Kitchens’ space to ensure if DoorDash fits the needs of each restaurant, ultimately providing customers with more selection and access in the Peninsula area.

As part of DoorDash’s mission to connect local businesses to the online convenience economy, DoorDash Kitchens provides these popular homegrown and national restaurants with transformational access to expand their reach and revenue.
