Grubhub Launches New Tech to Meet Takeout Demand

By Food and Beverages | Wednesday, March 04, 2020

Grubhub launched a first-of-its-kind Ultimate technology, proprietary hardware, and software solution that integrates all restaurant ordering channels into a single system.

FREMONT, CA: The technology replaces the error-prone handwritten scribbles and shouts. Ultimate is a digital workflow solution that directly connects the front and back of the house with the diners and creates a clear view of their order status, whether the diners order for a pickup or delivery on Grubhub, at an in-store kiosk, or directly with a cashier.

The components that make up the Ultimate technology are:

• Heads-up for customer displays to flash the real order estimates throughout all the channels

• Lightweight point of sale (POS) with direct integration to the Grubhub web and mobile app

• Kitchen display system (KDS)

• In-store self-ordering kiosks to complement the Grubhub app

According to an article published in QSR Magazine, the founder and CEO of Grubhub, Matt Maloney, states that diners have started to order ahead for pickup to breeze through busy rush hour crowds and grab their morning coffee or lunch. Still, at present, they can only enjoy this convenience at large quick serves, Ultimate technology provides the restaurants of any size the ability to please diners with an easy digital pickup experience. Ultimate has enabled them to build integrated kiosks and a digital queue further physically and online so that the diners can track the exact status of their order at any time. Commonly people do not prefer to order in person or by calling if they have an alternative. With the integration of pickup with delivery orders, the restaurant partners are provided with a transparent picture to manage their operations efficiently.

Pickup, which has a massive growth opportunity that has not yet been transformed by digital ordering, comprises of more than half of a $250 billion U.S. takeout market. Ultimate technology fast paces the adoption of digital pickup and betters the capacity management for restaurants of various sizes, offering a one-of-a-kind line of sight into all ETAs regardless of the ordering channels. Be it ordering on-the-go or in-person from the cashier or kiosk, and the diners get complete visibility in the app and on the displays in the storefront via the Ultimate Technology.

The restaurant owners and the staff now have access to a customer-created solution, easing out the process and demand during daily rushes.
