Food and Beverages | Saturday, January 01, 2022

Agriculture can become more cost-effective, smart, and sustainable by incorporating technology.

Fremont, CA: Farmers have been able to treat crops and manage fields more efficiently in recent years as a result of the development of technology in agriculture. Agriculture technology has revolutionized farming, making it more profitable, efficient, safe, and straightforward. Along with large-scale commercial farms, small, medium, and marginal farm producers gain major benefits from the ever-evolving digital agriculture systems as a result of using technology for agriculture.

Agriculture with Remote Sensing Technology

Multiple sensors, tools, gadgets, and systems are used in remote sensing technology for agriculture for a variety of applications, including Yield Monitoring systems, which provide essential crop data such as crop weight yield by time, distance, or GPS location measured and recorded to within 30cm, Automatic Fertilizer Application tools, which use yield maps to determine plant health by coloration to control crop input and many other tools.

Software applications

Many smartphone apps have begun to include the Internet of Things (IoT), data aggregation, and provide small farmers with up-to-date actionable information about sowing, weeding, fertilizing, and watering. These apps collect data from handheld sensors, distant sensors, and weather stations to produce detailed analyses and useful recommendations.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

Agriculture uses ICT to assist meet the growing demand for novel techniques. It also contributes to rural people's empowerment by improving access to natural resources, agricultural technology, effective production tactics, markets, banking, and financial services, among other things.

Telemetrics Positioning technology

Telematics - the latest agricultural technology – is a means of tracking tractors, trucks, equipment, and other assets using GPS and onboard diagnostics (OBD) to plot their movements on a computerized map. Telematics systems boost productivity and efficiency of operations.

By analyzing soil, crop, weed, and pest characteristics, as well as providing vital feedback for agricultural decisions, modern technology in agriculture may considerably increase farm productivity and the quality of life of small farmers.
