FREMONT, CA: Every industrial sector in the world today has been infiltrated by technology, and the food and the food-packaging industry is no different. Technology over the years has transformed how we produce and deliver our food through the help of robotics, applications, and data processing techniques.

Machines and Robotics:

By using machines, the cost to keep the food fresh and prevent wilting can be reduced. The increasing usage of robotics in the food industry is a tangible example of technology as it can minimize safety hazards for the dangerous jobs prevalent in the organization.

Precision agriculture can be considered a classic example of technological advancement in the food-processing industry. With the help of GPS and satellite imagery, crops can be monitored more efficiently resulting in greater crop yield. With monitoring, the farmers can also test the soil and the condition of the crops through drones that can identify and locate damaged crops and tend to them immediately.

3D Printing:

3D printing has been established as a prominent instrument among many industries in the last few years, and the food industry is one among them. From printing a pizza to creating soft foods for those who cannot chew properly, 3D impression opens the door to a world of innovations that were unthinkable earlier. The quality of the food is also maintained throughout the whole process, which helps to continue food sustainability.

Packaging and Waste Management:

Consumers pay attention to details for harmful ingredients while buying food as consumption of healthy and sustainable food is one of the chief concerns of the purchaser. Many organizations use technology to help them “go green.” By digitizing their entire performances, companies in the food industry can root out the use of plastics and other harmful packaging options. The evolution of technology could be the key to eliminate world hunger and solve waste management problem.
