Current Landscape of Cannabis Technology in Europe

Cannabis technology highlights the growth of import and export in various industries to enhance their role in the work economic market.

FREMONT, CA: Cannabis is starting to gain attention from international investors, scientists, and entrepreneurs because of the benefits it offers to the healthcare industry, as well as the opportunities it creates. Cannabis is still an unexplored area and making it arduous to objectively assess the potential of the plant. Cannabis, more specifically hemp, was seen as an important element in the manufacturing of industrial products such as textiles and ropes. Today, the use of cannabis plants has multiplied due to technological developments in the world. The general public attitude, legislation, or the lack of awareness plays a key role in the cannabis industry. This does not stop the cannabis believers, who keep raising bets on the plant ahead of legislation.

Cannabis, as a plant, has different types of flowers–marijuana and hemp look very much alike. Hemp, however, contains as little as 0.3 per cent of the psychoactive chemical THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), and basically cannot have any significant effects on the human body. It is very rich in protein and strong plant fibres, which makes it perfect for use in manufacturing, textile, and consumable industries. It is a feasible material used for the production of plastic polymers, products for construction, fabrics, wood, biofuel, paper, and even car components. The first house constructed with hempcrete, a carbon-neutral building block made of hemp, was built in 2019 by the Dutch company DunAgro Hemp Group. Hemp is still considered illegal to grow and sell in many parts of the world due to its resemblance with the marijuana flower. Nearly 30 countries, including Greece, Romania, France, Slovenia, and Turkey, allow commercial production of hemp.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are the two most discussed elements, or cannabinoids, which can be found in different strains of marijuana. Depending on their ratio on the marijuana strain, the effect on the human body is different. Even though there are still scientific discussions, THC is said to have psychoactive properties which produce the high effect of cannabis. It is also used for people who are struggling with physical pain, insomnia, and depression. But they can make people overly anxious. On the other hand CBD, it has a high impact on mood and psychoses can be a stimulant in small and monitored doses.

Besides cultivation devices, some companies develop apps and software that help cultivators monitor the growth and quality of their cannabis.
